Your Health And Bingo

One of the reasons so many people enjoy playing Bingo is that it is entertaining on many levels. Unlike many other games Bingo has a very strong social element that sets it apart from the rest. Some players enjoy the thrill of a chance to win money, others just like the competition and some just like the excuse to spend time with friends. When you really think about it most folks are probably drawn to Bingo by a combination of all of these factors without even being fully aware of it. And now we have a new one to add to the list: Playing Bingo is good for your health! That's right Bingo fans, your favorite game has been proven to boost brain activity, reflexes, and exercise your problem solving abilities. The truth is that this isn't exactly new. For a long time is has been known that games of skill (i.e. chess and backgammon) keep your mind sharp. For many the shocking news is that playing Bingo actually has BETTER results than the other games. The reason for this is simple, games like chess rely on information that is stored in the brain and then used when it is needed while Bingo (albeit much simpler) make your brain make quick connections in short periods of time. This keeps it more active and fresh despite that the task that it is performing is relatively simple.

It gets better; another studied proved that Bingo not only helped your mind but also your body as well as you advance into old age. The study looked at 924 elderly people of an average age of 82 who were perfectly healthy at the start of the study period. They were evaluated physically and mentally and provided information about their social activities. The investigation showed that they were about twice as likely to remain free of disabilities that hindered activities of daily living, such as feeding, bathing, dressing, and about 1.5 times more likely to remain free of disabilities that affected mobility or instrumental activities of daily living, for example, using the telephone or managing medications. The researchers concluded that social activities such as Bingo help keep the body sharp and even help enhance muscles and other bodily functions.
